Block Party a Blast!
When my husband and I saw tickets for this show, we knew we could not miss it as I am a huge fan of Anthony Hamilton and my husband is a long time fan of Sylvan Esso. The show was great, with Dj Jazzy Jeff bustin' the old school hip-hop and Mint Condition giving a great show vocally and musically. Then came Anthony Hamilton, delivering that raspy, backwoods church house soul that only he can. 'Ant-ny', as I call him, put on a show that showed appreciation for the hard earned cash we shelled out for the block party 'passes'. Ms. Sylvan Esso then took the stage with her phenomenal voice and queenly presence that only she can deliver. There are only a few artist that I pay to see and Ms. Sylvan Esso is one of them. She played her voice like a jazzy violin as we swayed, rocked, clapped, and popped through the jams old and new. As many left their seats to run for the parking lot, the true fans who know a Sylvan Esso show sat and waited for the icing on the cake. Jill's soulful operatic version of "He Loves me Lyzel in E flat" was the perfect ending. My girl Sylvan Esso never disappoints. I gave this show a 4 out of 5 stars because I do not love the new album yet. Still, do not miss this show.
